Prosthesis are all artificial parts of the human body, in short they are called by the products itself, as artificial eyes or false eyes, or even false tooth (dentures).  In the story of human beings since the dawn of civilization who by birth, wound, or accident or illness sometimes are left with body parts missing. The first Prosthesis ever discovered is not a leg, arm, or even a fake eye, it’s a toe. A big toe, belonging to a noblewoman, was found in Egypt and dated to between 950-710 B.C.E. 
General Marcus Sergio’s, who is been considered the first documented wearer of a prosthetic limb. Doctor Ambrose Pare made significant advances in both amputation surgery, and the development of Prosthetic limbs. He was the first to introduce a hinged prosthetic hand, and a leg with a locking knee joint. These advancements, as well as his innovative techniques of attaching the limbs, are unfortunately still rather common in modern Prosthetics.
Prosthesis in modern days is usually made in acrylic glass or synthetic rubber also in Silicone rubber. Only eyes and teeth were made in acrylic glass materials. Way back in the year, 1974 readymade artificial eyes were modified to suit the individual’s real or living eye, in the year 1999, the first in Malaysia who created an artificial eye based on the individual normal eye. After a few eyes were created, the second creation of making the eye light or also called as float-able artificial. This invention was listed in the Malaysian Book of Records in the year 2000.
Dr. Paneer Selvam also called as Zechariah’s made the change on eye prosthesis. This brought about a new change in the Eye Prosthesis Industry. In his late twenties, he mastered his skill with the help of his father Late Dr. G.Pakerysamy. A home grown business eventually took the attention by the Government and drew him into the Perkeso panel of Prosthesis makers.
Today this is so advance, yet the traditional method of molding and fitting the artificial eyes remains the same.
